Miss Ashleigh's Bio
Miss Ashleigh is a passionate performing arts teacher, choreographer, producer and performer who has dedicated her career to inspiring young people through the world of Musical Theatre. At 34 years old, she lives in Colchester, Essex, and has been a proud part of the TDH Academy family since 2015.
Her journey in Musical Theatre began at the age of three, when she trained at a local performing arts school and studied ballet, tap, modern, musical theatre and drama.
She then continued her training and gained a BA (Hons) Degree and National Diploma in Musical Theatre, before continuing her professional training at drama school in London.
During her training, Miss Ashleigh had the incredible opportunity to work alongside West End performers and learn from some of the very best professionals in the industry. These experiences helped shape her teaching style and fuelled her ambition to pass on her knowledge, confidence and love of performing to the next generation.
After completing her training, Miss Ashleigh went straight into teaching and has since worked with numerous local schools and young performers across the area.
She believes that Musical Theatre is about so much more than singing, dancing and acting; it is about building confidence, discovering individuality, creating friendships and giving every young person the opportunity to shine.
Alongside teaching, Miss Ashleigh is an experienced choreographer for Clacton Musical Theatre Society, where she has choreographed a wide range of productions, including Singin' in the Rain, 9 to 5, Made in Dagenham and Legally Blonde, alongside many more.
She also loves performing herself and, whenever time allows, enjoys taking to the stage with local amateur dramatics groups alongside her friends. Musical Theatre has always been a huge part of her life, both professionally and personally, and it is a passion she continues to nurture every day.
Miss Ashleigh is also incredibly proud to be a Trustee of the West Cliff Theatre in Clacton, where her role focuses on youth development within the local area.
She is passionate about creating opportunities for young people to access, experience and develop within the performing arts and believes strongly in the importance of nurturing the next generation of creative talent.
One of her proudest achievements in this role is being the Producer of the West Cliff Theatre's biannual production, Time 2 Shine.
The production celebrates young performers and, most importantly, raises funds to support students who wish to continue their studies in theatre at university. Being able to help young people pursue their dreams and remove some of the financial barriers that can come with further education is something Miss Ashleigh is incredibly passionate about.
Miss Ashleigh is currently Artistic Director, Teacher and Social Media Lead at TDH Academy, where she plays a key role in both the creative and wider development of the academy.
She is passionate about continually developing her own skills and knowledge and is always looking for new courses, training opportunities and ways to keep up to date with the ever-changing performing arts industry.
Since joining TDH Academy in 2015, Miss Ashleigh has felt completely at home.
TDH is so much more than a job to her; it is her creative home, her community and a huge part of her world.
She has watched generations of students walk through the doors, grow in confidence, discover their talents and develop into incredible young people and performers. Being part of those journeys is what makes her role so special.
For Miss Ashleigh, TDH represents everything she loves about Musical Theatre: creativity, friendship, family, opportunity and the belief that every young person deserves a place where they can be themselves and shine.
She feels incredibly lucky to be able to turn her passion into her career and to spend her days doing something that genuinely means so much to her.
With a wealth of professional training, teaching, choreography, production and performance experience, Miss Ashleigh brings energy, creativity, ambition and an enormous amount of passion to everything she does.
Whether she is teaching in the studio, choreographing a production, producing a show, supporting young people in the community or stepping onto the stage herself, her goal remains the same:
To inspire the next generation and help young people believe that their dreams really are possible.
